HRDC Sebilo Books donate to East Hanahai Primary School

Human Resources Development Council (HRDC) in partnership with Sebilo books has donated a fully equipped library to East Hanahai Primary School.
Speaking during the official handing over of the library, East Hanahai Primary School head, Ms Getrude Ketshabile said the donation came at the right time as it would help overturn the academic results of the school, which have not been performing well for the past three years.
Ms Ketshabile said out of 202 pupils in her school, 95 per cent were assisted by Ghanzi District Council through the Department of Social and Community Development and the services often delay to reach pupils.
She said her school had shortage of recreational equipment, which compelled pupils to spend most of their time in classrooms.
She therefore she explained that the donation would help them get exposed to a new learning environment, get motivated and improve their school performance.
HRDC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Raphael Dingalo said they were grateful to have partnered with Sebilo Books and managed to donate a school library to be used for educational purposes as it was aligned to their mandate of educating Batswana.
He said developing grassroots education was important since the country was moving towards human resources based economy.
He said partnerships and cooperation between parents, teachers and district leadership was important to produce best performing students.
Dr Dingalo said the library would sharpen the minds of pupils and help them improve academic results and be innovative.
He said the library should be taken care of and urged parents and teachers to help the pupils utilise the library.
Ghanzi Regional Education Director, Dr Mpho Issiah said the library would assist in improving East Hanahai primary school academic results as well as motivating the staff to perform better.
Director of Sebilo Books, Mr Lesedi Seitei said they found it fit to donate a refurbished and fully equipped library after they found out about the school’s poor performance.

Giving a vote of thanks, area councillor, Ms Tshabang Johannes thanked the companies for the donation, saying it would improve the school’s performance since they had been faced with shortage of resources. ENDS
