28 Mar 2018
The North West District Council (NWDC) chairperson, Mr Duncan Enga says recognising excellent performance in the workplace promotes good customer service.
Mr Enga therefore said it was important to hold staff awards to recognise efforts by excelling employees.
He was speaking at the NWDC awards ceremony in which 48 employees were awarded for various capabilities and best departments on Tuesday in Maun.
The awards were for best heads of departments, best performing departments, best change agent, most promising leader, best performing Tirelo Sechaba and Internship officers, long service and good conduct and best performer per departments.
He encouraged the award recipients to maintain the good standards of service delivery and non-recipients to be motivated to improve.
Mr Enga also noted that the NWD was still faced with challenges such as infrastructure, social services and poor road network, which were still lagging behind.
He however said the district leadership currently held a retreat in Chobe in which a roadmap was formulated to review and execute 2018/19 initiatives and annual plans.
The NWDC council secretary, Mr Charles Amos said the North West District realised the importance of human resource development.
Mr Charles noted that human resource was significant to the growth of any organisation.
He noted that the awards recipients had exercised knowledge of their job in handling processes, thus rendering the best service to the clients.
He said through the performance rewards, the NWDC was aligned to the national agenda.
The guest speaker, Maun FNB branch manager Ms Kelebogile Disang noted that such awards celebrated employees’ professionalism and integrity.
Ms Disang said excellent results were possible through team work.
Therefore she noted that the non-recipients were also integral.
She encouraged the awards recipients to keep raising the bar, adding that professionalism and good results would reduce customer complaints in the NWDC. Ends
