The Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has assured residents of Bikwe in Moshupa/Manyana constituency that their area would be included in the National Development Plan because it is a recognised settlement.

Mr Masisi said  land board would allocate plots in their area with ease so that other developments could follow.

He said that government had taken the lead by introducing various empowerment programmes geared towards bettering the lives of all Batswana such as the Poverty Eradication Programme and the President’s Housing Appeal.

Poverty Eradication Programmes, he said were meant to assist people who did not have basic necessities such as shelter or food.

Residents of Bikwe also commended  Vice President Masisi for bringing developments to their village.

The residents applauded Mr Masisi for bringing primary school to their settlement as well as securing a minibus to transport school going children.

The school was opened in January 2018 as part of developments he brought during his tenure as Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana.

The school would improve access to education at their settlement and reduce the daily long distance endured by students to school. Manyana Village Development Committee Ms Aggie Molelekwa thanked the Vice President for honouring his obligation to support Bikwe electorates by assisting students with transport.

A church at Bikwe has offered its building to be used to cater for learners and procurement processes are underway to purchase materials for partitioning the church hall.

Ms Molelekwa also said  the minibus would be coordinated by Bikwe Methodist Church, who would employ a driver and take care of its  maintenance.

Bikwe residents were happy that the long awaited combi had finally arrived. They praised MP Masisi for his support.

She said the donation was one of the achievements from the joint efforts between Mr Masisi and community members.ENDS
