MPs to attend 138th Inter Parliamentary Union Assembly

Four members of Parliament are attending the 138th Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings in Geneva, Switzerland that started on March 24 and ends March 28.
A press release from the National Assembly states that the MPs in attendance are Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo and Messrs Duma Boko and Ndaba Gaolathe.
“There will be a general debate that will be held under the theme ‘Strengthening the Global Regime for Migrants and Refugees: The Need for Evidence-based Policy Solutions’, it states.
The release further says the Inter Parliamentary Union is a world-wide organisation that brings together representatives of parliaments to promote contacts, coordination and exchange of experiences among parliamentarians.
According to the release, the meeting is expected to discuss and adopt resolutions on sustaining peace as a vehicle for achieving sustainable development and engaging the private sector in implementing the SDGs, especially on renewable energy.
The release further says that Ms Tshireletso and Ms Kenewendo will attend and participate in the 27th session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians; Ms Kenewendo will also participate in the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of the IPU.
The delegation departed on March 21 and they are expected back on March 30. Ends
