Makgalemele explains clinic status

The average monthly consultations for the past three months for Mosu clinic was 435, Mmatshumu 237, Mokubilo 564, Khwee 452 and Mmea 191.
Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said when responding to a question in Parliament on Thursday that Mosu has two general nurses, one is an ARV prescriber/dispenser Nurse.
There is one Midwife, one Health education assistant, one health care auxiliary and a driver.
Mmatshumo has three General Nurses two of whom are ARV prescriber nurses, one Midwife, one health education assistant, one nurse orderly and two drivers.
Mr Makgalemele noted that Mokubilo has three general nurses one of whom is a Midwife,one an ARV prescriber, one family nurse practitioner, one pharmacy technician, one health care assistant, one health education officer and two drivers.
At Khwee there are two general nurses, one of whom is an ARV prescriber nurse, one midwife, one health care assistant, one health education assistant, two drivers while at Mmea there are two general nurses, one of whom is an ARV prescriber nurse, two health education assistant, one driver.
“Makgaba Settlement has not been allocated staff as it is a mobile stop and is being serviced by Mokubilo Health Post,” he said.
He said that all the facilities offer services that include general consultation, injections, dressing, Child Welfare Clinic services, Family Planning, Antenatal Care, Post Natal Care, General Drug Dispensing, ARV prescribing/dispensing, Community Home Based Care services, HIV counselling and testing services and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission services.
Makgaba Settlement also offers all outpatient services except ARV prescribing and dispensing, he added.
With regard to fleet, there are eight ambulances and two non ambulances allocated as follows, Mokubilo and Mmea has one ambulance each that are currently running.
Mosu was allocated one non ambulance vehicle which is currently not running as it needs a new engine.
He explained that the quotation for the engine had been sourced and would be replaced in the next financial year, adding that at the moment, ‘Mosu is serviced by an ambulance from Mokubilo.’
Mr Makgalemele said that Mmatshumo was also allocated a non-ambulance, which is running and is assisting Khwee, whose vehicle is awaiting to be boarded and Mmatshumo is being services by an ambulance from Mokubilo and Makgaba is services as a mobile stop by Mokubilo Health Post. He said that DHMT has plans to transfer one ARV prescriber nurse to Mokubilo Health Post as the population serviced was higher than all the other facilities in the district and there were also plans in place to service all serviceable ambulances and those waiting to be boarded would be replaced.
MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to update the house on the status of all clinics/health posts in Mosu, Mmatshumo, Mokubilo, Makgaba, Khwee, and Mmea looking at their capacity, staffing, services offered including ambulances and plans in place to rectify the status if any, per village.
