North East District Council chairperson, Ms Florah Mpetsane has announced that the physical progress of the special education unit hostels at Moroka Primary School is at an advanced stage.

 

Speaking at a full council meeting on Monday, she stated that the patron of the school and Permanent Secretary to the President, Mr Carter Morupisi had managed to find donors, who contributed towards building materials for the project.

 

However, she indicated that external works like paving of surroundings, which was a paramount necessity, was left behind adding that council would look into its budget to compliment endeavours done by Mr Morupisi.

 

She highlighted that council had traded some of its vacant posts to employee staff to manage the hostels.

 

On the issue of Ipelegeng, Ms Mpetsane stated that the district was given a ceiling of P16 million for the implementation of the 2018/19 Ipelegeng Programme.

 

She said the district would carry out 18 technical projects, 43 grass cutting and litter picking as well as 43 desilting of drains, drifts and culverts projects. 

 

Ms Mpetsane said most of the 2017/18 community constituency projects had started adding that other projects had been completed while those that have not started were as a result of change of projects by the village leadership.

 

 

She further highlighted that council had experienced difficulties on supervision of projects due to lack of technical manpower and transport as each of the 43 villages in the council had projects.

 

Also, chairperson stated that Tati Land Board had embarked on an exercise to place durable plot numbers placards on all plots surveyed and 21 villages had placed placards. However, she said land board officials experienced challenges in other plots as some owners were not known by neighbours making it difficult to identify them.She said other plots were not developed hindering placing of placards on their fences.
