Christ Power Church and cluster policing volunteers in Dovedale have built a house to an underprivileged member of the society in the village.
Handing over the house in Dovedale on March 16, a member of the President’s Housing Appeal Committee, Mr Timothy Tlhalerwa called the house a great privilege and honour that will give the beneficiary some dignity.
The house was donated to Mr Jeremia Molebatsi who passed on last year.
Mr Tlhalerwa said shelter gave one security, dignity and safety.
He said the President’s Housing Appeal was started in 2010 with the aim of providing accommodation for the needy and to afford Batswana with one of President’s Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s 5D’s, Dignity.
Mr Tlhalerwa explained that he was delighted that many Batswana, companies and churches were sharing their resources to assist needy people to regain their dignity.
He said the house brings to 826 houses built and donated to beneficiaries under the programme.
He applauded Christ Power Church and cluster policing volunteers for finding it fit to build the house for Mr Molebatsi.
Accepting the house, Mr Molebatsi’s daughter, Ms Nkemelang Mooketsi, expressed delight at the gesture by the church.
For his part, the area councillor, Mr Mareko Morongwane said having accommodation was one of the important aspects in life.
He said the president should be applauded for coming up with the housing, as the programme has housed more Batswana. ENDS
