Nigerian princess motivates Kanye youth

17 Jul 2013

The visiting Princess Nere Emiko of the Delta State in Nigeria has challenged Kanye youth to pioneer their own paths rather than waiting to follow someone.

Speaking during a workshop with the youth in Kanye on July 15, she urged them to focus their attention on what they wanted to become, their passion and the purpose of their existence.

Princess Nere, also fashion and furniture designer based in the United States of America (USA),said Kanye, Botswana, Africa and the rest of the world needed pioneers across different cultures who would open way for the future.

Princess Nere said Botswana youth were blessed to have a government that provided a platform for youth to do business through specific programmes, initiatives and interventions, something unheard of in some parts of the world. Thus she urged the youth to take advantage of the dispensation while it lasts to better their lives and never give up.

“I personally am never a failure because I always learn from my mistakes and never stop learning everywhere I go,”she explained. She cautioned those who were already in business to manage their time and apply themselves whole heartedly to their customers.

The Princess also advised youth to develop their skills to manage business growth, get the right people to do the right jobs and maximise their abilities.

Princess Nere further offered to assist the youth who were serious about business, “I have spent all my life giving but most of the money I have donated went to waste so I want you to start a project that you can own, then I will see how I can assist,” she said.

For his part, the Southern District Council chairperson, Mr Leach Tlhomelang observed that although government had devised youth specific empowerment programmes, lack of entrepreneurial skills among the youth population, defeated the spirit of business sustainability.

He said government should build a business training institution where the business inclined youth would be drilled on good business practices. Member of Parliament (MP) for Kanye South, Mr Abram Kesupile said the visit would motivate the youth to do something for themselves.

Princess Nere is the daughter to King Ogiame Atuwatse II, the Olu of Warri, Delta State (Big heart), Nigeria. The purpose of her visit was to learn about Sengwaketse culture and traditions and Kgosi Malope II will return the visit in due course, thanks to Mr Oaitse Moahi who pledged to buy him the air ticket to Nigeria.
