HIVAIDS fight responsibility for all

13 Mar 2018

There is need for every Motswana to commit to the fight against HIV/AIDS by knowing their status and reduce the continuous spread of HIV/AIDS.

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development official in Tlokweng, Ms Maitumelo France said this during a Month of Youth against AIDS fitness day in Tlokweng recently.

Ms France said risky behaviour led to HIV/AIDS infection due to substance abuse, unemployment, multi-concurrent  partners, killings in love affairs and teenage pregnancy.

She said some young people had lost their parents due to HIV/AIDS and it was a challenge because they ended up leading child headed households.

The main objective of the day, she said was to encourage youth to know their status, seek support from family  as well as to exercise to live a healthy life.

She stated that young people who attend the event were showing concern about HIV/AIDS and they were willing to stand up and fight to stop the spread.

For his part, senior programme officer in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development in Tlokweng Ms Thato Motswakwa said the event went well and believed it achieved the mission of the day.

She said for the whole month of March, the ministry will continue to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS among young people. ENDS
