Boitekanelo students leave mark at Ditsweletse
12 Mar 2018
Boitekanelo College students who are attached to Boteti District Health Management teams (DHMT) have donated two educational billboards to Ditsweletse Junior Secondary School.
The donation was geared towards sensitising students on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the impact of teenage pregnancy on a girl child’s health and education.
One billboard conveyed a message ‘My boitekanelo, my responsibility # I choose a healthy lifestyle’ while the other one is written ‘My education, my future # stop teenage pregnancy and #strive for a bright future’.
Speaking at the handover, Boteti DHMT principal nursing officer, Ms Batho Rampana said that they had established a good working relationship with Ditsweletse JSS management, noting that their doors were always open. Ms Rampana explained that the school management was cautious about the student’s health as they received their services with open hands.
Boitekanelo student, Khumo Gabathuse explained that they chose a billboard to communicate with students because it served as a permanent teaching, noting that the billboard would be seen regularly and therefore stick to students’ minds.
She said it was a key factor to prevent teenage pregnancy by making sure that teens had an opportunity to achieve their dreams hence the importance of the educational billboards. For his part, Ditsweletse JSS school head, Mr Nkarabang Nkarabang said they were honoured to receive such a donation from Boitekanelo students, adding that it would make a great impact on students.
