Histo releases second album

12 Mar 2018

Sereta Diwambala, who goes by the name Histo in the music circle, has released his second album titled Mabinagotsholwa.

The eight-track album, which was released late November 2017 was recorded at Keal Entertainment Studios in Maun.

Speaking in an interview, 46-year-old Histo said his music, which was a mixture of jazz and afropop was inspired by his love for splash music groups and local jazz maestro, Banjo Mosele and Lister Boleseng.

Histo said he started working on the album in 2016 and got delayed by some challenges he encountered while working on it.

The Gumare-born artiste revealed that the album had so far sold over 300 copies and was confident that the album would do well than his first album, which did not do well  because of marketing strategies.

“Though my first album did not do well in the music industry, I was satisfied with it since I received royalties for its airplay twice, a gesture which motivated me a lot. I am convinced this one will do better looking at how it is selling in the market,” he said.

Histo has so much confidence that the album will be received well as he has featured the local guitarist, Guard Orutilwe, whom he said has supported him in the album.

The album, which is a mixture of jazz and afropop comprises songs such as Mabinagotsholwa and Maitseo is about the unruly behaviour of young people particularly those in cities, who tend to reject their biological parents and where they come from when they become successful in life.

Paradise is a dedication song to his late grandmother who passed on in 2016.

He said moulded him into the man he is today.

Rampeishane and Tsala yame tracks are about a friend or a person who talks bad about his friend and that people should beware of such kind of friends as they are dangerous.

Some songs in the album such as Batswana, Letlhafula and O gata o gatoga have an upbeat afro-pop rhythm that one can dance to.

He said he planned to launch the album sometime in April this year and also intended to release an only jazz album next year 2019, where he also wished to collaborate with Orutilwe. Ends
