12 Mar 2018

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says he will follow on the footsteps of his predecessors to ensure Batswana continue getting quality services to improve the standard and quality of their life.

Speaking during a kgotla meeting he addressed in Pitseng on Thursday to bid residents farewell, he challenged his constituents to vote wisely and for a credible candidate as he ascends to the country’s top post.

Mr Masisi said his replacement for the MP position should be above his work rate or complement it, hence he challenged residents to apply wisdom when voting a representative of their choice to ensure developments continue in the area.

The Vice President, also MP for Moshupa-Manyana constituency, who will be leaving the parliamentary office on March 31 to assume the country’s highest post on April 1, implored constituents to support the person who would take over as an MP.

He implored constituents to respect the person just like they respected him as well as creating and maintaining a harmonious working relationship.

Vice President assured residents that when he assumes presidency his entourage would not starve the area of Parliament issues as his cabinet ministers would be touring the whole country including Pitseng to abreast Batswana with Parliament activities. For his part, Kgosi Mmolotsinyana Mafhoko of Pitseng expressed gratitude for the Vice President for having dedicated his time for serving his constituents wholeheartedly and displaying meritocracy in his service.

He therefore encouraged the Vice President to keep the impetus as he assumes the presidency, noting that Botswana could go far if she is blessed with people like Mr Masisi.

He encouraged residents to emulate Mr Masisi as the father figure of the constituency if they were to achieve great things in life.

He showered the Vice President with praises that ‘he is the real messiah who came up with long lasting solutions for village challenges.’

Kgosi Mafhoko noted that the Vice President contributed immensely to the development of the southern region and the country at large.

However, a village elder, Mr Abram Motse advised Mr Masisi to be fearless as they would support him all the way, as he assumes his two five-year terms.

He challenged the Vice President to encourage cabinet ministers to visit the area when he takes the reigns to see how best they could assist in times of need.
In Ralekgetho, constituents were over the moon to bid their beloved MP farewell as they were chanting songs which denoted their gratefulness to the legislator.

When the Vice President arrived, song birds led him to his seat.

The mood of rapture was visible as one entered Ralekgetho prior to Mr Masisi’s arrival.

Chairperson of Ralekgetho Farmers Association Committee, Ms Bonolo Selotlego could not hide her excitement and pointed out that Mr Masisi contributed immensely to agricultural production in the area as well as ideas that led to the growth of the village.

He wished God’s blessings upon Mr Masisi wherever he is going as well as throughout the days of his life. Ends
