Gasita residents have been advised to better their lives by taking advantage of available government programmes.
During a kgotla meeting in Gasita to bid residents farewell on March 9, President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama said such programmes were tailor made to eradicate poverty and uplift the lives of Batswana.
President Khama said although his term of office comes to a close on March 31, his war against poverty would not stop, adding that he would continue assisting Batswana in various spheres of life where and when the need arose.
President Khama’s visit came after the MP for Mmathethe/Molapowabojang, Dr Alfred Madigele had specially requested him to visit the area as residents had wanted to bid him farewell and thank him for a visionary leadership that saw numerous development in the area.
President Khama commended the area MP for the love and commitment he had demonstrated to his constituents, saying the country needed people of his caliber.
President Khama donated blankets and food hampers to residents as well as Bibles, encouraging the nation to lean on God.
He said if residents wanted him to help the less-fortunate in the area even after his retirement he would continue to do so.
Kgosi Dineo Mothoemang of Gasita said President Khama had done a lot of good for Batswana.
He said President Khama served the nation whole-heartedly, pointing out that he displayed good governance and visionary leadership throughout his term of office. Ends
