Arrangement made for livestock
11 Mar 2018
Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security in an effort to help farmers whose livestock cross into South Africa has made an arrangement with the South African authorities to facilitate the timely return of such animals.
Minister Patrick Ralotsia said the South African authorities sometimes charge the owners of the livestock for their upkeep during their stay in South Africa.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Thursday, Minister Ralotsia said the charge catered for confinement, feeding and watering of livestock.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister what efforts were in place to help farmers whose livestock cross into South Africa to get them back as the border fence along the Notwane River was dilapidated.
Ramotswa legislator also asked the minister if he was aware that those farmers were charged exorbitant fees to get their animals back. Ends
