Mazda Drivers Club donates

Mazda Drivers Club has donated toiletries to Thuso Rehabilitation Centre in Maun, an institution that provides training to people living with disability.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Maun on March 3, Maun Administration Authority assistant district commissioner, Mr Ramogaupi Gaborekwe commended Mazda Drivers Club and its associates, BMW and Altezza Club drivers.

Mr Gaborekwe said the gesture by the club was in association with government initiative of Public Private Partnerships (PPP).

Government, he said was not able to achieve all its mandates therefore any small assistance from the private entities or individuals was a welcome development.

Mr Gaborekwe noted club members sacrificed to assist the centre.

The club national chairperson, Mr Bogha Maposa said the club, which was officially registered February last year, aimed to promote road safety among Mazda drivers to reduce road accidents.

Mr Maposa said the club sensitised its group members and assisted each other technically and in social activities, saying the club had 88 members countrywide.

Mazda Drivers Club Maun chairperson, Ms Rose Mephato said the donation to the centre marked the launch of the Maun branch, which had about 19 members to date.

Ms Mephato said the club would adopt Thuso Rehabilitation and ensure continuous support to the centre in various ways.

Thuso Rehabilitation Centre executive director, Mr Sahai Booker appreciated the club members who were mainly youth for the gesture in helping disadvantaged people of the community.

Mr Booker observed that the centre, which was established by the Lutheran Church relied on donations.

The Centre, he said offered services to people living with disability in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and training youth with disabilities on different vocations and survival skills to contribute to the economic growth of the country and participate in many society platforms. ENDS
