For instance, he said Khwai Development Trust supported about 65 elderly people, 24 orphans and 11 people living with disability with P600 monthly cash allowances.

He noted that his jurisdiction had a total of 11 such community based organisations.

Further, Mr Modiegi said the Constituency Community Projects initiative had contributed to local economic empowerment since the projects engaged local communities.

He however noted that some challenges were experienced in executing the Constituency Community Projects which included under budgeting and non-responsive tenders in some projects.

Mr Modiegi said some future projects planned for under the Constituency Community Projects would include road paving for Maun East and West as well as construction and maintenance of buildings for Ngami, noting that consultations with relevant stakeholders had been completed.
