The Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Kitso Mokaila said business forums have been conducted in Kang and two in the University of Botswana to share the opportunities along the Trans-Kalahari Corridor.
He said some Batswana have shown interests and have already approached lands boards for allocation of land. Answering a question in Parliament, Minister Mr Kitso Mokaila noted that in 2012, the Trans-Kalahari Corridor secretariat on behalf of Botswana, Namibia and South Africa conducted a feasibility study for the establishment of tuck shops along the TKC. He said the study identified Kang, Jwaneng and Lobatse as suitable places for the truck stops.
Member of Parliament for Jwaneng-Mabutsane Mr Shawn Ntlhaile, had asked the minister about steps undertaken to identify business opportunities presented by the Trans-Kalahari Corridor. He also wanted to know what steps were undertaken to encourage Batswana to take up such opportunities.ENDS
