Council chief wants creativity with budget

26 Feb 2018

Boteti Sub-council chairperson Mr Molemi Galeragwe has advised civic leaders to be creative with budget for Ipelegeng projects.

This, he said was because there was not enough money for desired projects.

Mr Galeragwe  told sub-council session held in Letlhakane recently that the programme budget continues to decline.

That he said meant the sub-district had to do away with most of the proposed construction projects and concentrate on minor maintenance.

In addition, he said, the progress of constituency projects was not satisfactory.

Mr Galeragwe noted that construction of solar powered streetlights in Letlhakane was still at tendering stage.

He stated that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as the procuring entity had indicated that funds for streetlight solar fitting had been disbursed to BITRI and the tender for gum poles was not awarded as all bidders were not BOBS certified or SABS certified.

A request to PPADB to waiver the clause he said had been submitted and awaiting response. He noted that with regard to projects under their care, most were ongoing and four were at documentation stage.

The council he said was working round the clock to fast track implementation and had requested for additional trucks and bowser from headquarters to assist in transportation of water and materials.

Furthermore, he stated that funding earmarked for District Health Management Team under ESP phase one to construct 11 staff houses at different areas of the sub-district had been released to the tune of over P10 million.

DHMT he said had acquired lease agreement for all of the planned residential houses and submitted to the ministry.

Mr Galeragwe stated that site handover had been done in all villages except for Mopipi where they were awaiting sub-land board to identify plot beacons. BOPA
