Maele to attend ZAMCOM meeting in Namibia

Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Prince Maele will today leave for Namibia to attend Zambezi Watercourse Technical Committee (ZAMTEC) Council of Ministers meeting on tomorrow.
A press release from the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services says the ministers responsible for water in Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe will discuss and review the implementation of decisions made during the last council meeting in Mozambique, last year.
It further says they will approve the 2016/17 narrative report and the budget for 2018/19, chief among them being the development of the strategic plan for the Zambezi watercourse.
The press release further says the plan will lay a firm foundation for more systematic, cooperative and tangible investments aimed at addressing the emerging socio-economic and climate-related challenges in the basin and the region in an efficient and sustainable manner.
The press release further says Mr Maele will also have a side meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in Namibia, Mr John Mutorwa to finalise a Memorandum of
Understanding between Botswana and Namibia and he will also join other ministers for a site visit to the Atlantic Sea to appreciate the sea water desalination plant at Swakopmund.
The Minister will be accompanied by senior officials in the Ministry of Land Management,Water and Sanitation Services and the delegation is expected back on Saturday. Ends
