The Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo has emphasised the importance of showing love to the elderly as they have played an important role in the upbringing of the future generations and taught them how to love.

Giving a keynote address during Valentine’s Day  lunch for the elderly organised by Mabaila Foundation in Mogoditshane recently, Minister Mabeo said love was an important aspect of life hence the need for people to love each other unconditionally.

“Today we are showing love to our elders because they guide us on a daily basis and we will continue to learn from them,” he said.
Mr Mabeo noted that it was important to learn from the elderly especially on the part of love as many of them managed to keep their relationships and marriages intact despite the challenges that they faced.

He highlighted that the country was faced with the problem of passion killings because people failed to love their partners unconditionally.

“It is high time instilled the spirit of love into people of different ages. Where there is love, peace often prevails,” he added. For his part, the chairperson of Mabaila Foundation, Mr Tshepang Mabaila pointed out that love brought about peace and unity.

He noted that it was necessary to show love to the elderly as they had taught the new generation many things among them showing love to others through sharing whatever they had.
“The reason why we are gathered here, is to share love with the elderly as this is the month of love”, he said.

Mr Mabaila highlighted that his foundation would build a recreational place for the elderly so that they could spend their leisure time at the place as most of them spent most of the time alone. He added that they would also buy some spectacles for the elderly and continue helping them in different ways when need arose.

Mr Maaila donated some gifts to some of the selected elderly from different wards  in the village. Ends
