High Court judge, Justice Dr Godfrey Radijeng has assured students of becoming whatever they want to be as long as they excel in their studies.
Justice Radijeng said this when addressing Kidz Academy International School students on Friday.
He told students that it was their choice to ensure that they achieved what they want, and that they had to prepare for that.
Justice Radijeng said although students needed to study and prepare, they also needed to work and play in order to show their other talents other than reading books.
He told students that if they did not learn, they would let their parents, society and community down, adding that they should not disappoint them because they were expecting a lot from them after completing their studies.
On discipline, Justice Radijeng, who is also a former lecturer at the University of Botswana, advised students to select their friends wisely so that they could make the right choices in life.
He said students have to respect people around them, adding that there was no way someone could be successful when they did not respect those around them.
Justice Radijeng urged students to read newspapers, magazines and to listen to radio and television broadcasts as well as to use available technology to augment what they learnt in class. However, he warned that technology should be used for the right purpose as its abuse may derail them from school work.
“Technology is very useful, but use it for a good purpose. Do not pick negative behaviours on television, what you do, do it because it has a purpose,” said Justice Radijeng.
He also told students that before they choose what they want to do, they should ask themselves if what they choose would be worthy to them or they would be just wasting their time.
He also advised them to use their cellular phones for necessary things at school, adding that only if their teachers allowed them to use such devices.
Justice Radijeng told students that the brain was an advanced computer, adding that they should use it and feed it. He added that what goes in someone’s computer or brain would define their choice. Ends
