Vice Presidents staff donates to needy

18 Feb 2018

Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s constituency office staff have donated food hampers to six needy families.

Speaking during the event recently, Moshupa Sub District Council chairperson, Mr Sonny Phiri said it was important for all capable Batswana to donate to the needy.

Mr Phiri said the donation answered President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s call for all to assist the needy.

Mr Phiri thanked the staff for sacrificing their income to raise funds for the donation, and urged other public officers to take cue.

Mr Phiri, however, commended public officers, especially members of the media, for covering events across the district tirelessly.

“If you do your job with love someone will inevitably take notice,” he said.

For his part, the constituency office administrator, Mr Motlhatlosi Kelobang said the initiative, which started some years back, was inspired by love.

Mr Kelobang noted that in 2012 they also donated food hampers to needy residents of Bikwe, Ralekgetho, Sehibidu and Moshupa.

He explained that God and the national vision encouraged Batswana to love one another and to give. He said they were of the view that even if someone had faith that moved mountains, without love they had nothing.

He said the constituency office with a staff complement of six members raised money for the donation.

Prophet Odirile Ketshabile of Awake and Healing Church underscored the need to give with love.

He said one could give without love, but that there was no way one could love without giving.

He added that giving attracted blessings from God.

Prophet Ketshabile, who pledged to donate food hampers to 20 families for Christmas, said the gesture also inspired his church to give.

Meanwhile, Mercy Hand Foundation director, Mr Kabelo Rampe has pledged to donate to 40 families in December to support the initiative. Ends
