Boteti ready to bid Khama adieu

Rakops community is in a jovial mood and awaits with anticipation Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’ s farewell kgotla meeting tomorrow.

Kgosi Gonkgang Mankgatau of Rakops stated in an interview that they were ready to host the President, saying they were grateful of the many ‘good’ deeds he had done for Batswana.

He said President Khama would be remembered for introducing programmes that uplifted the livelihoods of Batswana. “Re tlaa mo gakologelwa ka tse di senang le fa ele dibelebejane dipe,” he said.

A resident, Ms Nkgowa Utlwang said she was elated at the impending visit. She said her life had changed for the better after being funded through the Poverty Eradication Programme and now operated a tailor shop.

President Khama’s legacy she said would live on for years to come and hoped that the prorammes he introduced would not be discontinued so that more could benefit.

A youth, Ms Milidzane Gaobodiwe said President Khama’s departure from the high office was bittersweet but took solace in the foundation he laid for his fellow countrymen.

Boteti deputy district commissioner, Mr Ewetse Selelo was upbeat about the preparations noting that the community was in an ecstatic mood and ready to bid the President farewell. Ends
