11 Feb 2018

Member of Parliament for Serowe South, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi has encouraged her constituency leadership to prepare earnestly for President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s farewell visit.

Dr Venson-Moitoi, also Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, said this at a constituency consultative meeting at Thabala kgotla, with constituency leadership.

“We are bidding farewell to our leader and parent in Thabala March 22. Let us be united as we prepare for this momentous occasion so that all goes expeditiously,” she said.

The purpose of the meeting, Dr Venson-Moitoi said, was to consult with the leadership and check progress for the President’s farewell meeting preparations.

She however regretted that she may not always be available for the preparatory meetings due to other engagement, but assured them of her support throughout the preparations.

She said the idea was to conduct the greater part of the celebrations at the main kgotla in Serowe.

“Our plea is that every kgotla should convene and decide on the gifts to be offered to the President,” she said.

Kgosi Abel Kgaboyarona of Thabala said committees were selected to assist with the preparations.

Other villages President Khama is expected to visit include Mmashoro and Paje still on March 22 while Serowe is scheduled for March 27. Ends
