Kgosi urges church to be proactive
06 Feb 2018
Kgosi Obusitswe Solomon of Mmamokhasi ward has encouraged parents to raise children in the fear of God.
Kgosi Solomon said this at the Kanye ministers fraternal meeting at the Apostolic Faith Mission Church recently.
Kgosi Solomon explained that doing so would encourage children to become self-respecting, law abiding and responsible future leaders of the nation.
Kgosi Solomon said a church environment was an ideal place for teaching children critical life principles to ensure they grew up to become the best they could be in life.
He also challenged the church to take the initiative to pray for challenges such as HIV/AIDS and rain rather than waiting for a permission to do so from the royal leadership.
He said the two challenges called for persistent prayers.
For his part, ministers fraternal chairperson, Bishop Themba Pema of the Revelation Blessed Peace Church thanked members of his organisation for their active efforts, especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Mr Pema however challenged members to broaden their scope to address other social ills such as illegal drugs and crime among others.
Bishop Pema further encouraged members to take part in preparations for President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s farewell meeting to be held on March 15.
Bishop Pema also advised members to elect a responsible team of executives by the end of the year to take the organisation to the next level.
Ministers fraternal secretary, Mr Paul Tsitsi shared that the organisation had so far organised a workshop on child protection in conjunction with the Social and Community Development office.
He said the workshop was an eye opener for members on issues of child care.
Mr Tsitsi said they also organised another workshop with the Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Programme to sensitise pastors on matters related to HIV/AIDS with a view to empower them to guide and counsel congregants. ENDS
