Programme benefits residents

06 Feb 2018

Councillor for Bojanala in the North West District, Mr Luke Motlaleselelo has commended the Office of the President for their unending support to residents through the poverty eradication programmes.

He was speaking at the handing over ceremony of an industrial sewing machine, an over-locker machine and a 5.5 kilovolts generator to Ms Lentetse Tshoganetso at Ditshiping by Maun Administration Authority (MAA) on behalf of Office of the President.

Mr Motlaleselelo said the donation proved that there was cooperation from the relevant authority.

He used the platform to remind the residents of the availability of poverty eradication projects as well as encourage them to visit offices to enquire on the programmes offered.

Further, he encouraged the beneficiary to look after the machines for them to last longer.

Councillor Motlaleselelo also encouraged residents whose applications were not successful not to lose hope, but keep on trying since thorough assessments were done to ensure requirements were met.

The 40-year-old Ms Tshoganyetso thanked the Office of the President for making her dreams come true after being unsuccessful on the projects a number of times.

Ms Tshoganyetso said that her unsuccessful applications for poverty eradication programme did not discourage her and she eventually bought herself a manual sewing machine although it got stolen before she could establish herself.

She further praised and thanked President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama for heeding her cry during his visit to the area in 2017, saying it was a real blessing for her.

To the residents, Ms Tshoganyetso advised them to enquire on government programmes to improve their livelihoods and not depend on hear says. ENDS
