Insufficient funds delay progress at Nkoyaphiri
04 Feb 2018
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has not made progress on the development of the Nkoyaphiri plot which will include the bus rank due to lack of funds, says Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya
Mr Goya was responding to a question at Ntlo ya Dikgosi on behalf of Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
Kgosi Nametso Kopelo of Molepolole region had asked the minister to update the house on the progress made regarding the Mogoditshane bus rank and taxi rank which was asked on January 31, 2014.
Mr Goya also said there has never been a vacancy of a messenger/cleaner in Magotlhwane and Mogonye, adding that the service was provided by temporary assistants and that the village was encouraged to also utilise Ipelegeng.
Kgosi Thebe Makwa of Moshupa region had asked the minister to state when the Mogonye and Magotlhwane Tribal Administration offices would be provided with messenger/cleaners as the posts had been vacant since 2008.
On the issue of poor condition of the staff houses at Parakarungu kgotla, Mr Goya said the ministry through the Department of Tribal Administration had engaged the Chobe District Council to carry out an assessment of all tribal administration facilities in the district in order to facilitate maintenance of affected structures in the 2018/19 financial year.
He said the water tank would also be looked into as part of the assessment carried out by the Chobe District Council.
Kgosi Peter Chika III of Chobe region had asked the minister if he was aware that the Parakarungu LA2 houses were in a bad condition due to poor workmanship thus resulting in electricity short circuit blowing every electrical appliance in the houses and geysers, doors curtain rails falling off, and when the minister would consider repairing the water tank which was currently not working.
Kgosi Chika III also asked the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development if he would consider constructing a mini stadium at Kasane.
Mr Goya said that the ministry did not have immediate plans to construct a mini stadium in Kasane, adding that Kasane would be considered alongside other areas where there were no such facilities as it was the intention of government to have facilities accessible to communities. ENDS
