Sekoma Tribal Administration offices boarded vehicle will be replaced in the financial year 2018/19 whilst the Khakhea one is planned for replacement during the 2019/20 financial year.

Responding to a question in Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that was asked by Kgosi Kekailwe Tefiso of Ngwaketse West region, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the procurement of vehicles for the villages of Kokong, Khonkhwa, Keng and Mahotshwane was not provided for due to budgetary constraints.

She said the vehicles would be procured as and when funds permitted, adding that the villages would continue to be assisted by the Mabutsane kgotla for transport.

Kgosi Tefiso had wanted the assistant minister to state when she would replace vehicles that were boarded at Sekoma and Khakhea Tribal Administration offices, and when the villages of Kokong, Khonkhwa, Keng and Mahotshwane would be provided with vehicles.

Responding to questions from Kgosi Peter Chika III of Chobe region, Ms Tshireletso said Parakarungu was not included in the customary courts planned for expansion to include a storeroom and new water system toilets during the 2018/19 financial year due to budgetary constraints.

She said the Parakarungu kgotla would be considered in future if funds permitted, including the use of Constituency Community Development funds.

Kgosi Chika had asked the assistant minister if she would consider extending the Parakarungu kgotla offices to include a new water system toilet and a storeroom.

Ms Tshireletso also said her ministry did not have a provision for new vehicles under NDP 11 to cater for the Parakarungu kgotla, but that considerations would be made for the procurement of a double cab vehicle in future when funds permitted.

Kgosi Chika had wanted the assistant minister to provide the Parakarungu kgotla with a new vehicle that had a higher carrying capacity than the current one which was very old. ENDS
