Somerset residents consulted
10 Jul 2013
The Ministry of Transport and Communications carried out the first consultation with Somerset residents who were likely to give way for the Tonota/Francistown road between August/November 2012.
The Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Lebonaamang Mokalake told Parliament on July 9 that he had been informed that the Francistown City Council had so far consulted 14 affected plot owners on July 4 this year and efforts were being made to consult the remaining 29 plot owners.
Mr Mokalake said the affected people were to be relocated to Gerald Estate where there were readily available serviced residential plots as it was not possible to acquire the land behind Naledi Motors garage due to budgetary constraints during the current plan period.
Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister when the Somerset residents who are supposed to give way for Tonota/Francistown road were last updated on progress and where they would be relocated and whether it would be possible to acquire land behind Naledi Motors, which is closer to the location.
