Housing initiative gives dignity

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Slumber Tsogwane has indicated that a significant number of people have shelter due to President Lt Gen Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s initiative of Housing Appeal.

Minister Tsogwane said this during a kgotla meeting in Kedia on Wednesday, saying different companies and individuals supported the initiative in large numbers.

He said they came on board to build and establish shelters for underprivileged members of the community across the country restoring their dignity.

As such he encouraged residents to demonstrate love and gratitude appreciating the good spirit President Khama showcased towards Batswana during his term of office.

In addition he said during his deliverance of State of the Nation Address (SONA),  President Khama said Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi. would be taking over from him.

In addition, he informed residents of Kedia that Hima Ranch was funded to the tune of one million Pula, assuring them that follow up would be made with the relevant authorities to ensure implementation was done.

Senior assistant council secretary Mr Onthatile Molelu explained that direct procurement would be employed to speed up completion of the project.

Mr Molelu said security would also be supplied at Hima to ensure their goods remain secure, adding that a pipeline would be installed from the identified borehole to supply water at Hima.

Deputy Village Development Committee chairperson Mr Moditsi Gakelearabe had complained about slow progress of Hima Ranch Development Project. ENDS
