BDP primary elections Saturday

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will this Saturday conduct its primary elections, popularly dubbed Bulela Ditswe, for the (Stream A) constituencies currently held by opposition political parties.

Stream A constituencies comprise Ghanzi North, Kanye South, Gaborone North, Goodhope-Mabule, Francistown South, Bonnington South, Bonnington North, Mochudi West, Maun West, Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mogoditshane, Molepolole North, Molepolole South, Gaborone Central, Selebi-Phikwe West, Gabane-Mmankgodi, Ramotswa and Tlokweng.

A news release from BDP states that in accordance with the BDP regulations for conduct of primary elections and the constitution of the BDP, the elections will be conducted under the supervision of the electoral board.

Polling stations are set to open at 6am and close at 6pm on Saturday.

The release further states that the party anticipates an uneventful conduct of the elections and that facilitation for the elections is at final stage.

The release further states that the party encourages members of the affected constituencies to arrive early at polling stations to avoid congestion.

The second phase of the primary elections for the constituencies held by incumbent members of BDP is scheduled for August. ENDS
