MVAF launches Case Management System

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF) on Tuesday launched the Case Management System.

The system, according to the organization’s chief executive officer Mr Michael Tlhagwane, is meant to assist them achieve their mandate  of promoting road safety, compensating, rehabilitating and supporting those affected by road crash.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Tlhagwane said since its inception, the Case Management Section had been operating in a manual environment and using the Claims Management System to manage some aspects of case management.

Mr Tlhagwane said the Claims Management System was not designed for case management and consequently had limitations and this called for a need to develop an appropriate information technology system suited for the Fund’s business requirements.

He said that there were major challenges that had to be addressed, which included storing of some data needed for day to day business operations manually which hampered efficiency.

Mr Tlhagwane noted that some outputs needed for case management planning could not be drawn from the sister system , citing the generation of rehabilitation plans and tracking of clients.

Furthermore, he said that case management functionality in the existing system was limited as it was not designed to support the process.

He observed that the obtaining operating environment provided limited reporting capabilities hence there was a need for improved efficiency, reliability, accuracy and security of data adding that under the current operational environment, it was difficult to implement the required standard coding system.

He encouraged all stakeholders to fully utilise the system meant to improve the way things were being done, noting that there was proper and adequate consultation during scoping of the system.

For his part, RPC Data managing director, Mr Komal Rao was glad that they were delivering the project after three years toiling in order to bring a product of quality. Ends
