Kgosi Motlatsi Kediseng of Tatitown in Francistown has expressed displeasure over the number of residents who attend kgotla meetings of late.

Kgosi Kediseng said this during a kgotla meeting by Member of Parliament for Francistown west Mr Ignitius Moswaane.

He further stated that though attendance is small, there are issues amongst residents and their leadership that need to be addressed adding that such issues cannot be addressed because residents do not come forth to voice their concerns.

Kgosi Kediseng explained that he had observed that ipelegeng workers are the only members of his community who attend meetings regularly.

He however indicated that the Member of Parliament was not in parliament for his own interests but to address issues of residents in his constituency and to help develop his constituency as well as take ideas of residents to parliament.

Kgosi Kediseng also stated that he had observed that even during government initiatives such as  taking services to the people last year, residents did not turn up in satisfactory numbers.

He added that initiatives like this were important as they informed people on the different services offered by different government departments and parastatals.

For his part, MP Moswaane advised parents to be more involved in their children’s school work adding that parents need to participate in order to close the gap between teachers and students.

He further pleaded with small vendors who operate close to schools to desist from selling drugs to students as it disturbs their educational journey.

The assistant district commissioner for Francistown, Ms Tebogo Hlabano said as the city of Francistown prepares for the President’s farewell tour, committees had been set up and preparations  underway.

She further encouraged residents of Francistown to attend the farewell ceremony in large numbers at the old Francistown stadium on January 26 at 830am. ENDS
