Masisi consoles Rakala family

Vice President, Mr Mokgweeetsi Masisi has expressed condolences to the family of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Ralekgetho councillor, Mr Gofetseone Rakala who passed away on Sunday (January 7) after a long illness.
Mr Masisi, who is also the BDP chairperson, was accompanied by the party's secretary general Mr Mpho Balopi and some Moshupa sub-district councillors.
Vice President Masisi visited the Rakala family homestead to pass his condolences and offer support to the bereaved family at Ralekgetho on January 10.
He said the party had lost a hardworking person who was always consulting the people and the party.
The Vice President said he worked for the party with an open heart, saying he was “a smart young gentleman who loved the word of God.”
Mr Masisi further said Mr Rakala served the council with diligence and transparency, saying he was always cooperative and intelligent.
“It is not only the family which lost a precious person, the party and its members are also very, very sad. Ke go rata ga Modimo," Mr Masisi said.
He requested Ralekgetho residents to look for a person with the same qualities as that of Mr Rakala when the time was due.
For his part Mr Balopi said the party had lost a good leader who worked for the party with all his heart.
Moshupa Sub-district assistant council secretary Mr Isaiah Odirile said the late Mr Rakala was elected as councillor in 2014, noting that he served in most sub-council committees such as S&CD, SHHA, education, audit and performance monitoring committees.
Mr Odirile stated that he worked in S&CD committee as a chairperson and on his own assisted the disadvantaged people and those who were poor in his ward.
Mr Odirile said he worked closely with public officers and was trustworthy.
Another speaker, Moshupa sub-district deputy council chairperson, Mr Wakgotla Tsalaeile noted that the late councillor worked hard for his ward.
He said a lot was expected from him because he represented his ward wisely.
Councillor Rakala died last Sunday (January 7) at Kanye Seventh Day Hospital after a long illness. He leaves behind his father , mother, wife and a child.
He will be buried on Sunday (January 14). ENDS
