Orange Foundation has announced that digital education remains a priority for the organisation and the company is set to continue in this year its efforts of digitising the local education system with the deadline for submissions set for April 30.

According to a press release from Orange Botswana, the foundation wishes to invite submissions from all NGOs, associations and communities that wish to use digital tools to support or advance the teaching and learning system for marginalised groups such as people living with disability, girls, and women, in and out of school youth, the poor and rural communities.

Orange Botswanapublic relations and foundation manager, Ms Boga Chilinde-Masebu indicated that digital education is a key priority area for the foundation which was identified after receiving feedback from various stakeholders in Botswana.  

She said as the current pillar of the Orange Foundation strategy, digital education aims to contribute to social development through education and skills development.

“We are hoping that through our continued efforts and investment in digital education we will change the dynamics of the local education system positively which will hopefully result in improved performance of students. In 2017 alone the company invested and donated over P500 000 worth of ICT equipment to SOS villages in Serowe and Francistown who were the beneficiaries of the Call for Projects that year,” she said.

Ms Chilinde-Masebu further said it is in this regard that the foundation invites and urges capable Batswana to submit their proposals for consideration for sponsorship this year.

The release further noted that Orange Foundation is therefore looking for legally registered and passionate NGOs, associations and communities that have the willingness to take the country’s education level to even greater heights through digital education, these entities must have acceptable internal financial structures.

“I would like to highlight that in line with this year’s theme, we will only be looking at and considering projects that are aligned to this year’s theme of digital education,” she concluded.
