Masisi visits Bobonong
07 Jan 2018
Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi on January 4 paid a surprise visit at the Bobonong kgotla when residents were in a kgotla meeting addressed by area Member of Parliament, Mr Shaw Kgathi.
Mr Masisi, who was accompanied by his wife in his brief stay at the kgotla, told residents that he was in the village on a private visit because Bobonong was his second home where his wife originated.
He was there to check on the relatives and to attend some social activities.
He stated that he hoped to one day address a kgotla meeting at the village to disperse some untruths peddled by some people, especially those that emanated from the closure of the BCL Mine in 2016.
The Vice President acknowledged that the closure of BCL Mine had an impact on the people of Bobirwa and informed them that minerals were finite resources, which at one point would be depleted.
He also said he would find time to discuss such issues as tourism, Talana Farm, Platjan Bridge.
Mr Masisi encouraged residents to plough this season and not to be discouraged by marauding elephants, which he said government would come up with strategies to control.
Kgosi Baakodi Tombale of Tombale ward said they were pleased for his visit, which he said was a demonstration that the country had a visionary leadership.
Kgosi Tombale appealed to the Vice President to visit Bobonong as soon as he assumes the presidency. ENDS
