St Jacobs donates
03 Jan 2018
Putting other people’s needs before one’s own is not something that comes easily to many people but it is the right thing to do.
It is for this reason that St Jacobs Church in Serowe has made it a tradition to donate hampers to children every first day of the year.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraela Goya said it was important to assist the less privileged members of society because doing so was a service to God.
He said government through Vision 2016 and 2036 recognised the importance of assisting the less fortunate, adding that the donation matched government’s vision.
Mr Goya said his duties included safeguarding the welfare of children as leaders of tomorrow.
He said government recognised the role education played in development and also that it was a legacy that could benefit people.
“Every child has the right to education and my ministry will leave no stone unturned in achieving this,” stated Mr Goya.
Mr Goya, also Member of Parliament for Palapye, said by introducing pre-primary education, government had joined a trend practiced in many other countries.
He said government aimed to produce globally competitive graduates hence the move to introduce specilaised education system.
St Jacobs Archbishop Gaolefufa Mahana said though the church was struggling financially, they were rich spiritually. Ends
