03 Jan 2018

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi visited Bikwe, Manyana and Polokwe in the Moshupa/Manyana constituency on the first day of the New Year, and donated tones of sweets to thousands of children and wished residents and Batswana at large a good season ahead.

Speaking to residents of the three villages, Mr Masisi, who is also area Member of Parliament, said the objective  of the donation was to thank God for the children and the gift of life.

“May all the good things come to you this season, but I encourage you to remain united,” he said.

He assured residents that though he would soon ascend to the highest office in the land on April 1, 2018, he would still keep the promises he had made to them while still their parliamentary representative.

Mr Masisi encouraged constituents to pick someone who would be able to work hand in hand with him, advance government programmes in the constituency and beyond as a replacement to take up where he would leave off.

He also informed Bikwe residents that a new satellite school in their village would be opened on January 9, 2018 and encouraged residents to use it to their benefit.

He said the school was constructed at zero budget from government. He also pledged school bags and outdoor recreational equipment to be used by the first batch of learners.

Furthermore, Mr Masisi advised parents to raise children in fear of God.

For his part, Kgosi Nkosiyabo Mngqibisa of Bikwe said they were blessed to host the Vice President on the first day of the New Year. He said the visit was a sign of good things to come for them this year.

Meanwhile, councillor Peter Sethibe said the gesture would go a long way to sow seeds of love on the children who received the gifts. Ends
