North East Regional Education office staff members donated food hampers worth P600 to Ms Sitale Samuel in Lesoma recently.

Ms Samuel, who lives in a one roomed house with her five children, was jubilant as the regional staff graced her yard with songs and worship during the event.

Mr Mabunga Gadibolae, North East regional director, initiated a monetary contribution and individuals who graced the event followed suit and P912 was collected and presented to Ms Samuel.

Mr Gadibolae said his office was not only providing education, but also had to create a conducive environment for learning. He also encouraged others to assist those in need, adding that it was their first donation in the district.

He said the selection of the recipient was done through the district council and social workers, saying the donation would not be the last.

For her part, Ms Samuel said that she was overjoyed as the donation came at the time of the festive season.

“I am blessed because out of all people, they chose me in Lesoma, may God shower them all with blessings,” she said

The district’s social welfare officer, Mr Maikutlo Ramaselwana said that there were many less privileged individuals within the district, and that the government alone could not manage hence such gestures from the staff was welcome. He also said it was encouraging to have individuals from outside the district to carry out such good initiatives. ENDS
