Tshipe applauds Butale charity initiative

Mahalapye Sub-district representative at Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Tshipe Tshipe has applauded the charitable cycling event aimed at raising funds for the development and refurbishment of Information Technology laboratories at school across the country. 

Kgosi Tshipe said when welcoming Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Biggie Butale and his cycling team at Mahalapye Kgotla on December 20, that the cycling journey from Masunga to Gaborone was not a wellness initiative, as its primary aim was to raise funds for the development of education. 

He also appreciated the Mr Butale for taking such an initiative as it would contribute greatly to the development of education. 

Kgosi Tshipe said the project would go a long way in empowering the youth and developing the education of the country. He also appreciated the initiative as it does only raise funds but also encouraged the spirit of wellness.

For his part, Assistant Minister Butale appreciated the support of the community. He said the main of the cycling journey was to raise P20 million for the construction and equipping of computer laboratories at primary and secondary schools. 

He said the funds raised from the maiden cycle challenge would cover schools in Tati East constituency. 

Mr Butale added that the intention was to hold the fund raising cycle challenge annually, adding that the proposed cycling trip for 2018 would raise funds for schools in the Kgalagadi District. Meanwhile, Mr Nathan Kgabi, who is part of the cycling team, appreciated the support they had received from Botswana Railways cycling team.  Mr Kgabi said the youthful BR cycling team joined them at Radisele and gave them a morale boost as they arrived in Mahalapye before scheduled time. 

He also appreciated the support from the business community for providing among others refreshments, mechanical and healthcare personnel.

Assistant Minister Butale’s charitable cycling team is expected to arrive in Gaborone yesterday. ENDS
