A 33-year-old man of Orapa has drowned in a swimming pool at Thakadu Hotel on December 10.
According to Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, the deceased was on a drinking spree with his friends when he met his fate.
He was reported to have been swimming on intervals and his friends later on realised he was nowhere to be found and launched a search.
As the search for him continued, he was spotted by some of the employees of the hotel below the water.
He was removed from the pool by hotel management and rushed to hospital, where he was certified dead.
Superintendent Maphephu advised hotel management to ensure the pool has proper security measures, such as installation of fence as well as a pool attendant.
He also called on the public to always ensure they were fit for swim before they could embark on the exercise.
Further, Superintendent Maphephu said they had observed a developing trend in Letlhakane, where people go for picnics or parties at illegal drinking spots in the outskirts of the village.
He cautioned the public against such, saying that had escalated criminal activities such as rape and murder. ENDS
