The Scout movement in collaboration with Book for Africa have donated novels to Otse Primary School and 50 solar powered lamps to some Otse residents.
Speaking during the donation recently, the national training commissioner for Scouts Mr Ezekiel Malenya said the scouts are passionate about working with the community especially young people in order to instill good manners and assist them to be responsible citizens.
Mr Malenya who is also a representative for Book for Africa said it was important to donate novels to Otse Primary School so that students could have something to read.
He said upon realizing that some residents of Otse do not have electricity in their homesteads, they decided on the lamp donations.
He expressed hope that the lamps would make life easy especially for some students who would otherwise want to read at night.
South East Region Scouts commissioner Mr Bob Africa said the scout troupes from Southern, South East, Kgatleng, Gantsi, Kweneng, Gaborone, Kgalagadi, Lobatse and Jwaneng had converged in Otse for a camp where they exchanged ideas on how to address issues affecting them.
He however regretted that some young people who were facing life challenges have resolved to excessive indulgence in alcohol, neglecting their school work while others engaged in criminal activities.
He also encouraged parents to be active in parenting their children to encourage them to be good leaders of tomorrow. ENDS
