Balopi calls for spirit of giving

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) secretary general has called on Batswana to embrace the spirit of giving and helping one  another as festive cheer and mood kicks into high gear.

Speaking at a Christmas party hosted by the BDP Gaborone North committee at Ledumang Senior Secondary School on December 10, Mr Mpho Balopi said the gesture was not for him to come and politic to people, but rather show the spirit of Christmas by sharing lunch with Gaborone North constituents.

He indicated that love and giving could move this country forward, hence every Motswana should strive for that and do better.

“Christmas is very special and it is always good to share things with your fellows and I want to encourage others to open their hearts and embrace the festive spirit,” he said.

Mr Balopi noted that he had been worried by reports of people killing others, doing drugs and general delinquency.

“As a nation we need to work together to overcome these challenges and become the nation we know we can be and proud of,” he said.

BDP specially elected councillor, Mr Kagiso Ntime indicated that they would wrestle the Gaborone North constituency from the opposition by 2019.

“The constituency belongs to the BDP and we will win it back so it goes back to its rightful owners,” he said to loud cheers from multitudes of people that had attended the event.

The Vice President of Botswana and also BDP chairperson, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi was treated to loud cheers from the BDP faithfuls when he joined Mr Balopi and his delegation for lunch.

Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Batshu and Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Mr Mephato Reatile were also among multitudes that enjoyed the Christmas lunch. ENDS
