05 Dec 2017
Deputy Permanent Secretary to Permanent Secretary to the President, Ms Kesego Okie says the Mabaila Foundation continues to touch the lives of many Batswana especially underprivileged citizens in the country.
Speaking at a handing over of an ablution block to Boseja ward kgotla in Mogoditshane, Ms Okie said the noble gesture was in line with the President’s call of caring for the underprivileged members of society.
She said Botswana was envied by many because of the role that members of the community were doing in building, caring and uniting the nation.
Ms Okie said government under the leadership of President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has successfully promoted and continues to promote the spirit of botho and compassion in that those who had something shared with those that had less.
She cited the Presidential Housing Appeal as one of the example that has so far provided decent housing and restored dignity to hundreds of families that would otherwise have never had access to such.
Apart from the noble gesture, she said the Mabaila Foundation had in April and August this year extended its love and appreciation to the elders by donating eye spectacles in Mogoditshane. She added that last year they set the bar high by donating floating trophies to be competed for by schools in Mogoditshane for their academic performance.
She commended the foundation for previously sponsoring Morama JSS in Jwaneng, Lotlaamoreng I JSS in Good Hope), Baitirile JSS in Moshupa and Palapye Central in which they donated gifts and money for students, including teachers who excelled.
The president and founder of Mabaila Foundation, Mr Tshepang Mabaila said their aim was to contribute and leave a legacy for the needy.
He commended residents of Mogoditshane for always assisting and giving a helping hand. He also praised them for participating in every activity when the foundation needed them.
He urged other foundations and companies to assist wherever possible to ensure that at least they reached out to one of the citizenry who might be in need, as government alone could not be able to assist all the needy without the contribution of other stakeholders. BOPA
