Teachers students shoud come together
04 Dec 2017
Communication and Corporate Affairs manager at Botswana Housing Corporation, Mr Gomolemo Zimona says teachers and students must come together to reflect on their successes and challenges.
He said the two must also share openly their hopes and dreams for the good of their school.
Speaking during pre-school party for Mogorosi Primary School recently, Mr Zimona commended teachers for their hard work and perseverance they put through the years in supporting and shaping the future of the children and Botswana at large.
He said that the school had been according preschool pupils safe and loving environment where they could fulfill their basic requirements of good health, nutrition, sanitation and continue to learn more complex levels of thinking, movement, feeling and interaction with others.
Mr Zimona said that this was in line with childhood care and Education Policy of 2001, which provided a holistic view of how pre-schooling programmes should be run and managed.
As a consequence to the school’s needs, Botswana Housing Corporation found it imperative to respond to the clarion call by donating teaching aides, 60 chairs, 16 tables, 60 school bags and three intellectual computers worth P15 000.
The donation, he said, was in line with their corporate social responsibility policy, which calls upon the corporation to give back to the communities within which they operate.
He also congratulated Dr Kolaatamo Malefho of Malefho Foundation and parents for their invaluable support towards the development of both the school and the pupils, saying without their involvement those pupils would not be facilitated.
Mogorosi school head, Ms Botshelo Baotleleng said the school was an average performing school whose performance declined in the past two years.
She said that they started the reception class last year without furniture, hence the donation from Malefho Foundation.
In the process they turned the storeroom into a classroom through the help of the village development committee.
Mrs Baotleleng said that due to limited resources they managed to enroll only 60 preschool pupils despite having many children in the village that could be considered for enrolment.ENDS
