Kopong street lighting project commissioned

04 Dec 2017

The Molepolole/Lentsweletau sub district council recently commissioned 30 street lights worth P1 millon at Kopong.
The project on behalf of Kopong community was officially handed over to Kgosi Michael Molefhe who expressed happiness over completion of the project without delays.

He said the streetlights will hopefully deter criminals from harboring in the dark to commit illicit activities in the village.
Even though Kgosi Molefhe welcomed the development, he said it would have been worthwhile if the street lights were extended up to the tribal offices.

During the handing over Molepolole Administrative Authority (MAA) vice council chairperson Mr Slumber Mokgosi, called on villagers especially the leadership to ensure close monitoring of the street lights to guard against vandalism.

Molepolole/Lentsweletau senior assistant council secretary Mr Gofaone Kgabanyane said they were able to source additional funding to increase the scope of work.

He said they were also working towards complementing street lighting in the sub district with Flood Lights in some designated areas to be able to cover wider areas as they are considered reasonable in terms of costing.

He said even though they were constrained by funds their wish was to extend street lighting coverage to other deserving villages in the sub district through annual budgeting.

Mr Kgabanyane applauded the contractor for a commendable work in committing towards timely completion of the project and within budget. ENDS
