Botswana condemns repeat testing of ballistic missiles
30 Nov 2017
The Government of the Republic of Botswana wishes to once again reiterate its strong condemnation of the continued provocative actions by North Korea in conducting testing of Inter-continental ballistic missiles.
We are profoundly concerned that such irresponsible behaviour by North Korea has the potential to cause untold tension, not only to countries in the region, but to other nations far afield.
In this regard, Botswana stands in solidarity with the people of South Korea and Japan in the face of this ever present threat from the reckless actions by the North Korean regime.
We therefore, once again, urge the United Nations Security Council and all members of the international community to act in concert to address these acts of aggression and intimidation, which North Korea continues to pursue with impunity and in violation of United Nations Resolutions.
Furthermore, Botswana wishes to reiterate her standpoint that in view of North Korea’s intransigent position, it is time the international community isolates that country by cutting off all diplomatic and trade ties. ENDS
