Khama back from Kenya
29 Nov 2017
President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama and his delegation returned from Nairobi, Kenya yesterday (November 29), where they attended the inauguration ceremony of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, President Khama was received by Deputy Permanent Secretary to the President, Ms Botshelo Mathuba and International Affairs and Cooperation Permanent Secretary, Mr Gaeimelwe Goitsemang.
President Khama, who travelled to Kenya Tuesday, was also accompanied by Senior Private Secretary to the President, Brigadier George Tlhalerwa.
Mr Kenyatta was sworn in, for a second term as President, with his deputy, Mr William Ruto after winning repeat presidential elections with nearly 7.5 million votes following Kenya’s Supreme Court decision of November 20 to uphold the results of the repeat elections held on October 26.
The repeat presidential elections were held following boycott of results by National Super Alliance leader, Mr Raila Odinga, who was President Kenyatta’s main challenger.
Mr Odinga is a Kenyan politician who served as the second Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013 and Leader of the Opposition since 2013. BOPA
