Neale Sechele Primary School from Molepolole emerged this year’s winner of P15 000 worth of prizes in the Bonita Milk Empty Packs competition after collecting more packs than the 125 schools that participated in the competition.

The competition is a campaign by Parmalat Botswana that allows pupils in primary schools to collect empty 500ml and one litre of Bonita Milk packs and submit them to Parmalat Botswana.

Collecting more empty packs increases one’s chances of winning.

Speaking at the prize giving ceremony on recently, country manager for Parmalat Botswana, Mr Stephen Ghanie said the competition exposed children to the notion of team work  to achieve a common goal and in turn win prizes for their schools.

“The competition started off last year in Gaborone and nearby places such as Ramotswa and Mmopane, but we intend to take the competition across the country and get more schools to participate because we have realised that it has the potential to grow.

The impact of this competition is also that as the children collect the empty packs, they clean the environment in the process,” he said.

For her part, commercial manager for Parmalat Botswana, Ms Primie Moipolai said the objective of the campaign was to increase the consumption of milk as it added a nutritional value to children’s bodies.

Moreover, she said the campaign ‘rewarded loyal customers who are somewhat contributing to the upliftment of the community by making sure that they collect empty containers while in turn they clean their communities.”

Schools that won were awarded with stationery, cleaning materials and anything requested by such schools that equaled the amount of their prize money.

Bonewamang Primary School got position two and walked away with P11 000 worth of prizes, while Lewis Memorial Primary School scooped position three and got P5 000 worth of prizes.

Motsatsing Primary School got position four and won P2 000, while Kutlwano, Kgabophuthi and Camp primary schools finished on positions five, six and seven respectively and received P1 000 each. ENDS
