Zebranet connects Moshupa senior

Director of Basic Education for Southern Region, Mr Acro Maseko has applauded Zebranet Services for their contribution towards providing wireless Internet services at Moshupa Senior Secondary School.

Delivering a speech on behalf of deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Basic Education, Mr Maseko commended Zebranet for their partnerships with Moshupa senior school.

He stated that information technology (IT) played a big part in how the students learn and how they as educators and leaders in their learning institutions, facilitated their learning in the 21st century.

He noted that students had access to tablets, smart phones, computers, mp3 players and Internet, saying the gadgets had turned the world into one big village where information was easily shared among students and teachers.

The director further appreciated Zebranet for their noble effort of rendering free Wi-Fi to Moshupa senion for the second year in a row.

He explained that the company offered fast and reliable internet solutions, which would would enhance school’s academic performance.

Mr Maseko stated that Zebranet also offered hosting and domain services plus voice technologies, which would soon allow the school to teleconference in the global dominion.

He said information technology such as using Internet, sending and retrieving e-mails and being able to create data and spreadsheets had the power to influence subordinates.

He pointed out that students today were more technologically knowledgeable than those who were mandated with the responsibility to teach them.

“Students were showing an early acclimation to technology that far exceeded where their older siblings were at the same developmental point.

Today’s younger elementary students are gamers, communicators and explorers in terms of their technology in their education,” he noted.

He indicated that learners were also able to interact with their peers all over the world through the use of web 2.0 tools such as Blogs, Wikis, Facebook, My Space, WhatsApp, Twitter and other social networking platforms.

Mr Maseko said today’s generation grew up surrounded by technological innovations such as iPods, tablets, and digital television.

He stated that the onus was on the school leaders to ensure that students received the best and relevant education that any educational system could offer.

The country, he said wanted to transform its economy as earlier stated from being resource driven-to become more diversified and knowledge based.

Earlier, Moshupa senior school head, Mr Patrick Phiri also applauded Zebranet Company for partnering with his school.

He said the company started assisting them since 2015, adding that they would work together to grow from strength to strength.

Mr Phiri said they wanted their school to be technology hub.

He stated that Internet in the school was mainly for students to research and do their work with ease.

He said they would be more informed time and again, adding that the partnership was assisting school as a way of supporting classroom instruction. ENDS
